Dyslexia

For students with dyslexia, writing is frequently also affected.  A teacher may find a significant difference in what a child thinks and is able to say, and writing the same responses out.

ThoughtCo. has an online article titled, “How Dyslexia Impacts Writing Skills“, which states that “besides frequent spelling errors, some of the ways dyslexia affects writing skills:

  • Essays are written as one paragraph with several long, run-on sentences
  • Using little punctuation, including not capitalizing the first word in a sentence or using end punctuation
  • Odd or no spacing between words
  • Cramming information on the page rather than spreading out”

Learning Success System is a blog that posted the following image regarding dysgraphia (or the inability to write coherently~ often related to dyslexia)
